VP, Disease Business Unit General Manager, US

Vertex Pharmaceuticals seeks a VP and General Manager to lead a U.S. commercial business unit with full P&L accountability. The role requires managing a mature, established franchise across sales, marketing, and cross-functional teams while driving revenue growth and preparing for future innovation.

Responsibilities

• Own full P&L responsibility, delivering revenue, profitability, and strategic commitments for the designated business unit
• Lead integrated U.S. commercial organization with direct reports in sales and marketing functions
• Drive cross-functional collaboration across market access, patient services, medical affairs, R&D, and regulatory teams
• Execute product launches for indication expansions and lifecycle management initiatives
• Develop high-performing leadership bench and succession planning within the organization

Requirements

• 15+ years of pharmaceutical or biotech commercial leadership experience
• 8–10 years leading large, matrixed organizations with people management responsibility
• Proven track record managing in-market franchises with sustained performance
• Portfolio and lifecycle management experience in regulated environments
• Demonstrated ability to influence executive leadership and external stakeholders
• Strong financial acumen with experience managing significant budgets
• Commitment to ethical leadership, compliance, and organizational values

Compensation: $368,000 - $552,000 base
