1. Source: A recruiter sources candidates from various sources; the search starts from our proprietary database. Using advanced sourcing methods like social media, professional networking media, internal, and 3rd party job boards, we identify qualified candidates.
2. Validate: A recruiter validates the candidates' experience and skill sets against our client's position.
3. Initial Screening: Based on the position and the client's work culture, the recruiter uses initial screening questions to determine the most suitable candidates.
4. Submit: The recruiter will submit to the technical team qualified candidates who have passed the initial screening.
5. Technical Screening: The technical team then prepares a matrix of the particular requirements and required experience for the position and using a list of questions and the results, re-validates the candidates' technical skills.
6. Background Check: Administrative personnel will provide a detailed background check, as required, per client agreement.
7. On board: On successfully completing the above steps, the candidates are welcomed on board and assisted to ensure a smooth integration at the client's location.

Job Description

Description: The Client seeks an experienced IT Consultant to support the design, development and implementation of an enterprise Big Data solution as part of the Data Modernization Effort.

This role will provide expertise to support the development of a Big Data / Data Lake system architecture that supports enterprise data operations for the client, including the Internet of Things (IoT) / Smart City projects, enterprise data warehouse, the open data portal, and data science applications. This is an exciting opportunity to work as a part of a collaborative senior data team. This role is not to administer systems, but to bring together existing enterprise data systems into an innovative Big Data solution. This architecture includes an API gateway, ORACLE, Hadoop, Elasticsearch, Spark, Tableau, Microstrategy, ArcGIS, Informatica, and others.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinates IT project management, engineering, maintenance, QA, and risk management.
• Plans, coordinates, and monitors project activities.
• Develops technical applications to support users.
• Develops, implements, maintains and enforces documented standards and procedures for the design, development, installation, modification, and documentation of assigned systems.
• Provides training for system products and procedures.
• Performs application upgrades.
• Performs, monitoring, maintenance, or reporting on real- time databases, real-time network and serial data communications, and real-time graphics and logic applications.
• Troubleshoots problems.
• Ensures project life-cycle is in compliance with District standards and procedures.

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field or equivalent experience

Skill Matrix:

• Experience with Big Data components to include: Hadoop, HDFS, Hbase, Hive, Sqoop, Kafka, Storm, MapReduce, elastic search, and others
• Knowledge of Big Data and Data Architecture and Implementation best practices
• Knowledge of Data-centric systems for the analysis and visualization of data, such as Tableau, Microstrategy, ArcGIS, Kibana, Oracle
• Experience querying SQL and NoSQL data sources
• Experience modeling and ingesting data into and between various data systems
• Experience with API / Web Services (REST/SOAP)
• Experience with API Gateway / complex event processing (real-time streaming analytics)
• Experience using front-end tools to display data, esp. Angular 2, JQuery, D3 and Bootstrap
• 16+ yrs planning, coordinating, and monitoring project activities
• 16+ yrs leading projects, ensuring they are in compliance with established standards/procedures
• Bachelor's degree in IT or related field or equivalent experience
