Job Overview Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) works under the guidance of the Center Manager and under the medical direction of the Center Physician. Responsibilities include donor eligibility determination, managing donor adverse events, reviewing laboratory test results, and overseeing donor notifications. Responsibilities Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent and medical history interview. Conduct physical examinations, blood testing, and review Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE). Manage donor adverse events and respond to donor reactions following SOPs. Coordinate medical emergencies, including development of Center Physician standing orders and transport to emergency care. Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or medical/technical guidance. Support Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees. Manage employee incidents and coordinate further evaluation with occupational health/ER. Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS). Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent; completed a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements. Licensed or certified LPN or LVN in the state of assignment. Current CPR and AED certification. State‑level basic IV therapy certification. Completed FDA approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist. Two years of clinical or hospital experience.
