Job Description Summary MUSC Community Physicians (MCP) is an entity within the Medical University of South Carolina that provides healthcare to patients within the rural health network throughout the state of South Carolina. Job Description Supports high quality Point of Care Testing (POCT) testing at the point of service. POCT Standard Operating Procedure development and regulatory compliance are performed, as well as training and competency assessment of clinical services personnel. Performs quality control, maintenance, troubleshooting, evaluations, and correlations of POCT instrumentation. Reviews and evaluates POCT data and patient results for acceptability; resolves aberrant data and results; demonstrates effective communication skills and models Standards of Behavior in daily interactions and activities; routinely rounds on customers to ensure needs are met. Performs other duties as required. Minimum Education and Experience An Associate’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Technology. Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations Certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP). If not certified, must be registry eligible and enrolled to take the certification exam during the first year of employment. Additional Job Description Performs a variety of routine and specialized diagnostic medical lab tests as requested by healthcare staff according to established protocols and procedures. Prepares specimens for microscopic examination or testing procedures. Operates automated laboratory instrumentation and equipment. Performs quality control and assurance procedures. Records lab results in specified system. Follows all required privacy, safety, and biohazard procedures and standards.
