A day in this role

You start your shift by triaging incoming customer units—diesel trucks, trailers, and material-handling equipment. You plan your work, set priorities, and dig into diagnostics, handling electrical and mechanical issues at an intermediate level. As repairs progress, you document each step in our maintenance software to keep records accurate, support DOT compliance, and trigger any needed return-order follow ups. You’ll keep an eye on parts usage too—reconciling inventory and elevating unresolved discrepancies to maintenance leadership.

Throughout the day, you may be asked to mentor a Vehicle Technician C, offering guidance on safe practices, troubleshooting approaches, and quality standards. You wrap up by tidying your bay and warehouse area—because a clean, safe workspace is part of the job.

What you’ll do

• Independently repair and maintain customer vehicles and equipment, including diesel-powered units, trailers, and material-handling assets.
• Diagnose and fix electrical and mechanical concerns at an intermediate level, including work on drive chain components and automatic brake systems.
• Use maintenance software to log work performed, support DOT compliance, and manage follow up on return orders.
• Track, research, and reconcile parts inventory; escalate discrepancies to maintenance management when unresolved.
• Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work area and warehouse; assist with additional tasks as assigned.
• Provide coaching and assistance to Vehicle Technicians C as needed.

Skills you’ll leverage

• Basic welding and cutting torch operation.
• Foundational electrical and mechanical diagnostic and repair skills.
• Knowledge of tire inflation systems; ability to mount and dismount tires.
• Proficiency with basic diagnostic tools; comfort with computers for documentation.
• Ability to schedule and prioritize daily tasks effectively.
• Capability to read and follow verbal and written instructions.
• Safe use of power, hand, and diagnostic tools; ability to operate material-handling equipment.
• Capability to drive company equipment, including Class 8 tractors.
• Professional, customer-focused communication; adherence to company uniform and appearance standards.
• Provide your own technician toolset.

Minimum qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Approximately 3–5 years of relevant work experience.

Preferred qualifications

• Two years of post–high school education (college or technical program).
• Class A CDL or the ability to obtain it within 90 days of hire.
• ASE certification.
• Refrigerant Recovery and Recycle certifications.
• DOT Brake and Annual Inspection certification.
• Diesel/Automotive trade school diploma.
• Three to five years of heavy-duty truck maintenance experience.
