Job Summary The HCA Nurse Residency Program at Trident Medical Center is a year‑long paid program that provides graduate nurses with hands‑on experience to develop clinical and critical thinking skills. The program includes advanced clinical training in a specialty, monthly educational sessions, preceptorship training with a facility preceptor, simulation‑based skill evaluation, mentoring from experienced nurse leaders, and a collaborative evidence‑based practice project. The RN Resident coordinates and delivers high‑quality, patient‑centered care in accordance with departmental and state standards. The RN Resident works with medical providers and the care team to provide individualized, comprehensive, compassionate care using established nursing models such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.” The RN Resident also serves as an advocate for patients, families, and caregivers to support an unparalleled patient experience. Responsibilities Assess patient condition during admission and each shift, identifying and reporting any changes in patient status. Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s). Document care promptly and thoroughly in the patient medical record. Administer prescribed medications, monitor therapeutic response, notify provider, and intervene appropriately if an unintended response occurs. Respond promptly to patient requests and anticipate patient needs to resolve issues proactively. Teach patients, families, and caregivers about medical conditions, treatment plans, medications, side effects, and follow‑up measures, translating complex terminology into clear, understandable language. Qualifications Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) obtained within 30 days of employment. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) obtained within 1 year of employment. Other certifications may be required during employment. Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. Registered Nurse license or Graduate Nurse in South Carolina. No previous experience required.
