Job Description Position Objective: The position of Audiologist is designed to manage and deliver a comprehensive audiological program that supports students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing (D/HH) in accessing their educational environment. Duties & Responsibilities Provide screening, assessment, consultation, equipment management, and collaboration to support students in accessing services in the least restrictive environment. Serve as an itinerant specialist across multiple school sites, partnering with educators, families, and service providers. Conduct audiological and functional listening evaluations; administer and interpret diagnostic tests; analyze data; and prepare reports with recommendations. Review outside evaluations and participate in eligibility determinations, re‑evaluations, and Child Find activities. Provide direct and consultative services to support auditory access, communication skills, use of amplification, and classroom acoustics. Support student independence in managing amplification and communication needs. Contribute to IEP and Section 504 plan development, including goals, accommodations, and services. Determine candidacy for hearing assistive technology and select, fit, program, troubleshoot, and monitor devices (e.g., hearing aids, cochlear implants, FM/DM systems). Maintain and inventory audiological equipment across sites and provide training to students, staff, and families on use and troubleshooting. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and communicate with families and outside providers regarding student progress and needs. Provide consultation and staff training related to hearing loss, communication strategies, and inclusive practices. Coordinate audiology services across assigned sites and support program planning, implementation, and evaluation. Maintain accurate records and documentation and ensure compliance with federal, state, and district regulations. Prepare written reports, correspondence, and program materials and stay current with best practices and legal requirements. Perform other job‑related duties as assigned. Reporting Relationships Reports directly to and is supervised by the Director of Special Education. Education & Experience Required: Master’s or Doctoral degree in Audiology. Required: Valid Washington State Audiologist License. Preferred: Experience in pediatric and/or educational audiology. Licensing Requirements Washington Educational Staff Associate (ESA) Certificate in Audiology (or eligibility). Knowledge Comprehensive knowledge of audiological evaluation methods, including diagnostic testing, auditory processing assessment, and interpretation of results. Understanding of hearing loss types, speech perception, and auditory development in children. Ability to apply evidence‑based audiology practices to determine student needs and appropriate interventions. Skills Demonstrates multicultural sensitivity with the ability to effectively and collaboratively work with diverse populations. Ability to perform all duties in accordance with all applicable Board policies and district and legal requirements. Ability to meet and maintain punctuality and attendance expectations. Physical Requirements Positions in this class typically require stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions. Light work involves exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently. Employees may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, odors, chemicals, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, and intense noises, and may need to travel between school sites. Conditions of Employment $73,990 to $138,754 annual salary, prorated based on actual FTE (based on the negotiated collective bargaining agreement salary schedule). Certificated staff work the school year contract with placement on the District and BEA bargaining agreement salary schedule, determined by training and experience. Medical, dental, vision, long‑term disability, and life‑insurance eligibility is based upon .45 FTE. Retirement provided through Washington State Department of Retirement System.
