Maintenance Mechanic
This role focuses on maintaining and repairing a wide range of production equipment and systems in a large, modern manufacturing facility. You will perform both preventive and corrective maintenance on complex machinery, troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, and support new equipment installations to ensure reliable and efficient production operations.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on CNC machines, EDMs, lathes, mills, CNC Swiss machines, water jets, robotic systems, presses, and other manufacturing equipment to minimize downtime and improve equipment performance.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and PLC-related issues to quickly identify root causes and implement effective repairs.
- Interpret and work from blueprints, wiring diagrams, and electrical and mechanical schematics to perform accurate repairs, modifications, and installations.
- Conduct routine inspections of production equipment and document findings, maintenance activities, and repairs in detailed maintenance records.
- Assist with approximately 10 new equipment installations each year, including setup, alignment, testing, and integration into existing production processes.
- Operate forklifts and other lifting equipment safely to move, position, and install machinery and components.
- Collaborate closely with production and engineering teams to improve equipment reliability, optimize machine performance, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Follow all safety protocols, lockout/tagout procedures, and company policies during maintenance and installation tasks to maintain a safe working environment.
- Work independently on assigned tasks, managing priorities and communicating status updates to supervisors and team members as needed.
Essential Skills
- At least 2 years of industrial maintenance experience working on relevant production equipment and machines.
- Hands-on experience with CNC maintenance, including troubleshooting and repairing CNC machines, lathes, mills, CNC Swiss machines, water jets, and EDM equipment.
- Proficiency in electrical maintenance tasks, including reading and interpreting blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and PLC systems.
- Experience performing preventive and corrective maintenance in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to interpret and apply information from technical drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals.
- Experience with PLC troubleshooting and basic understanding of PLC-controlled equipment.
- Capability to operate forklifts and lifting equipment safely in an industrial setting.
- Proven ability to work independently in an industrial maintenance role, managing tasks and priorities with minimal supervision.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Technical degree or formal technical education in a related field (preferred).
- Additional CNC maintenance experience beyond the minimum requirements (preferred).
- Prior experience in a large manufacturing facility with a variety of automated and robotic equipment.
- Familiarity with robotic maintenance and support of automated systems.
- Comfort working on multiple types of equipment, including presses, CNC machines, and specialized manufacturing systems.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills to effectively partner with production and engineering teams.
- Attention to detail in documentation, recordkeeping, and adherence to safety procedures.

Work Environment
This position is based in a large manufacturing facility with approximately 500 employees and a dedicated maintenance team. There are multiple shift options: one role on 2nd shift, Monday through Friday from 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM, and one role on 3rd shift, Sunday night through Thursday morning from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM. New hires train on 1st shift, Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, for the first 8 to 12 weeks to ensure thorough onboarding and equipment familiarity. The maintenance team includes 15 employees on 1st shift and 1 other maintenance mechanic on 3rd shift, providing both team collaboration and independent work opportunities. The facility is massive, air-conditioned, clean, and well-lit, and you will work around advanced equipment such as CNC machines, EDMs, lathes, mills, CNC Swiss machines, water jets, presses, robotic systems, and PLC-controlled machinery, using forklifts and lifting equipment as needed while following strict safety procedures.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of White Bear Lake, MN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $44.23/hr.
