Job Summary
Medical Surgical Floor Nurse in a general hospital setting, working night shifts in a unit with 52 private rooms. This role involves providing high-quality patient care for diverse post-operative and medical conditions, including ortho, neuro, and medical diagnoses, with a focus on patients requiring hemodialysis such as peritoneal dialysis.

Job Details

• Location Requirements: Unit notes stipulate a 50-mile radius rule; all submissions must include a copy of the candidate's unexpired driver's license.
• Required Qualifications: Valid BLS (American Heart Association), NIHSS certification; a minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical-surgical setting; active license to submit; willingness to wait for license verification; 0 years of experience requirement listed.
• Schedule: Night shifts from 0645-1915 and 1845-0715, totaling 36 hours per week, with a schedule planned for 6 weeks at a time.
• Additional Information:
  • The unit handles various post-operative and medical diagnoses, including COPD, stroke, pneumonia, infections, and hemodialysis patients, with some experience in peritoneal dialysis highly preferred.
  • Patient ratios: 1:6-7 on nights, with CNA support (4-6 CNAs per shift, patient ratio 1:10-12).
  • The charge nurse takes a full patient assignment and has a clinical assistant.
  • Staff may float to MedSurg/Oncology or overflow units, but no gtts are administered on this unit.
  • EHR system in use is Allscripts, and orientation includes general hospital training plus 2 full shifts on the unit.
  • Other team members include hospitalists, intensivists, IV teams, RT, and pharmacy available 24/7.
  • Scrub color requirements: RN's Navy blue top & bottom, navy scrub jackets, no hoodies; CNA's Grey.
