Senior Mechanical Engineer Job Description The Senior Mechanical Engineer provides engineering support for manufacturing operations, technology and systems engineering, leading the mechanical engineering team and delivering comprehensive mechanical engineering support for the plant's infrastructure components and equipment. Key responsibilities include: Leading the design, cost, and improvement estimations of complex plant and infrastructure mechanical equipment and components. Coaching others involved in distribution, maintenance, construction, and operation of plant equipment and infrastructure. Inspecting, surveying and continually improving the operation and condition of plant mechanical equipment; establishing specifications and standards for maintenance, new equipment, and workmanship. Providing ongoing troubleshooting and overseeing the maintenance and repair of complex plant and infrastructure components and equipment. Designing, developing, and testing all aspects of mechanical components, equipment, and machinery. Applying engineering principles to design products such as engines, instruments, controls, robots, machines, etc. Being involved in fabrication, operation, application, installation, and/or repair of mechanical products. Qualifications Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering and at least 8 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. May lead and direct the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department.
