RN II - ERProvides nursing care, including triage, treatment, and discharge care for emergency department patients, from newborns to geriatrics. Completes accurate triage assessment on all patients and notifies the Emergency MD of all abnormal signs, symptoms, and vital signs 100% of the time. Reviews and completes patient orders in a timely manner. Provides medication side effects teaching to all patients who receive medication in the emergency department and always includes this teaching in discharge instructions. Recognizes the symptoms of cardiac or respiratory distress and other impending emergencies 100% of the time. Provides appropriate nursing interventions in stable and emergent patient situations. Competent in all routine nursing skills including medication administration and intravenous therapy including blood products. Responsible for the care and maintenance of indwelling catheters and drains, and for the safe use of medical equipment used in critical care settings. Understands and follows the chain of command per policy. Accurately interprets ECG rhythm and manages care of patients during life-threatening emergencies in the populations served. Demonstrates knowledge of lead functions and application, able to make recommendations for best monitoring based on patient presentation. Demonstrates appropriate knowledge and skill in providing care during critical situations such as Code Blue, Code Stroke, Sepsis, and Trauma Activations. Completes legible, accurate, and timely documentation of all nursing care provided, including evaluation of patient's response to medications, treatments, and procedures. Consistently performs necessary unit-specific safety and quality control checks. Facilitates safe and timely coordination and collaboration with inpatient units when admitting patients from the emergency department. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
