General Maintenance Technician I

Location: Long Beach, CA 90808

Temp-to-Hire

7am-3:30pm M-F

Pay rate range- $24-27/hrs. on w2

Job Summary:

• We are seeking a General Maintenance Technician I to join our Operations & Maintenance team in a manufacturing environment.
• This is an entry-level, multi-craft maintenance position responsible for responding to work orders, troubleshooting equipment, and performing emergency, preventive, and general maintenance repairs under supervision.
• The technician will support building equipment, fixtures, machinery, and facility systems while working as part of a directed work team. The role may involve performing non-licensed maintenance work and assisting licensed trades as directed.

Key Responsibilities

• Respond to work orders and provide timely maintenance services.
• Perform preventive, corrective, and general maintenance on building and production equipment.
• Troubleshoot equipment and identify potential equipment failures.

8. Flooring
9. Doors and locks
10. Windows

• Replace electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors.
• Repair or replace sinks, water coolers, toilets, and other plumbing fixtures.
• Patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings using plaster or compound.
• Paint structures and equipment as needed.
• Repair or replace concrete floors, steps, sidewalks, paneling, and floor tiles.
• Install doors and door locks and replace broken window panes.
• Perform general maintenance and repairs on equipment and machinery.
• Conduct preventive maintenance inspections.
• Execute planned maintenance procedures and provide job estimates.
• Maintain spare parts inventory and communicate parts usage to inventory personnel.
• Assist with installation, inspection, and servicing of new equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance through a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• Respond to work orders and provide service updates and feedback to customers.
• Operate hand tools, laptops, diagnostic hardware, and various measuring/testing instruments.
• Identify and report safety-related issues and assist with equipment evaluations to identify potential failures.
• Support coworkers, contractors, vendors, project managers, building managers, and engineers during projects and renovations.
• Follow all applicable governmental, company, and industry regulations, codes, safety practices, and permit requirements.
• Follow proper safety procedures, including Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and PPE requirements.
• Recommend improvements to maintenance methods and equipment performance.
• Maintain a strict work schedule while remaining flexible to changing customer and business needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager or Supervisor.

Minimum Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 0–1 year of maintenance experience in one or more of the following areas:

1. Industrial HVAC
2. Industrial Mechanical
3. Machine Repair
4. Automotive Repair

• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Ability to work from aerial lifts or scissor lifts at heights of 30 feet or higher.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate degree or trade school certification in:

1. Industrial Mechanical
2. HVAC
3. Related technical field

Additional Requirements

• Must be able to pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.
• Valid driver's license may be required.
• Must be able to obtain a security access badge at the work location.
• U.S. work authorization sponsorship is not available.
• Must be willing to work various shifts, weekends, holidays, overtime, and alternative schedules as required.
• Work schedules may change based on critical business needs.

• Must be able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including:
• Steel-toe safety shoes
• Safety glasses
• Gloves
• Hard hat
• Other PPE as required
