The position offers a highly competitive salary of $145,000–$225,000 per year , alongside sign-on incentives and relocation assistance , with signing, retention and relocation packages potentially worth up to $75,000 . About the Practice This established companion animal hospital provides comprehensive medical and surgical services within a state-of-the-art veterinary facility equipped with advanced diagnostic and treatment technology . The practice operates as a collaborative multi-doctor environment, providing access to a broad range of preventive, diagnostic, medical and advanced surgical services. Veterinarians are encouraged to exercise clinical autonomy while benefiting from an experienced clinical team and wider professional resources. There is a strong emphasis on continuing education, professional development and maintaining a positive working environment where veterinary professionals can build sustainable long-term careers. Located in Ketchum, Idaho , the practice offers access to the wider Sun Valley region and the Rocky Mountains, providing extensive opportunities for outdoor recreation alongside an attractive small-town lifestyle. Responsibilities Perform advanced small animal surgical procedures and comprehensive pre- and post-operative patient evaluations. Develop evidence-based diagnostic, surgical and treatment plans for complex cases. Provide high-quality surgical and medical care while maintaining excellent patient safety and clinical standards. Communicate clearly with clients regarding diagnoses, surgical options, potential risks, prognosis and patient outcomes. Maintain accurate and comprehensive medical records and clinical documentation. Prescribe medications appropriately and maintain compliance with pharmacy and controlled substance protocols. Collaborate closely with veterinarians, technicians and support professionals to deliver coordinated patient care. Monitor hospitalised and post-operative patients and participate in clinical rounds and complex case discussions. Support the development and implementation of clinical protocols and continuous improvement initiatives. Contribute to the professional development of colleagues through clinical guidance, knowledge sharing and training. Candidate Profile Applicants should hold a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) degree or equivalent from an accredited veterinary school. Candidates should have completed a one-year rotational internship in small animal medicine, surgery, emergency medicine or an equivalent programme , followed by a three-year AVMA-approved surgical residency . Applicants must hold, or be eligible to obtain, an appropriate veterinary licence in Idaho. The successful candidate should demonstrate advanced surgical, diagnostic and clinical capabilities alongside excellent communication and client relationship skills. The ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary veterinary team and a commitment to compassionate, evidence-based medicine are essential. Veterinary surgeons with 2–5 years of post-residency experience are particularly encouraged to apply. Compensation & Benefits Salary: $145,000–$225,000 per year Location: Ketchum, Idaho Schedule: Full-time with flexible working conditions Sign-on, retention and relocation packages: Up to $75,000 No negative accrual options available The comprehensive benefits package includes medical, dental and vision insurance , alongside paid parental leave for birth, adoption and foster placement.
