Responsibilities Perform advanced small animal surgical procedures and comprehensive pre- and post-operative patient evaluations. Develop evidence-based diagnostic, surgical and treatment plans for complex cases. Provide high-quality surgical and medical care while maintaining excellent patient safety and clinical standards. Communicate clearly with clients regarding diagnoses, surgical options, potential risks, prognosis and patient outcomes. Maintain accurate and comprehensive medical records and clinical documentation. Prescribe medications appropriately and maintain compliance with pharmacy and controlled substance protocols. Collaborate closely with veterinarians, technicians and support professionals to deliver coordinated patient care. Monitor hospitalised and post-operative patients and participate in clinical rounds and complex case discussions. Support the development and implementation of clinical protocols and continuous improvement initiatives. Contribute to the professional development of colleagues through clinical guidance, knowledge sharing and training. Candidate Profile Applicants should hold a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) degree or equivalent from an accredited veterinary school. Candidates should have completed a one-year rotational internship in small animal medicine, surgery, emergency medicine or an equivalent programme , followed by a three-year AVMA-approved surgical residency . Applicants must hold, or be eligible to obtain, an appropriate veterinary licence in Idaho. The successful candidate should demonstrate advanced surgical, diagnostic and clinical capabilities alongside excellent communication and client relationship skills. The ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary veterinary team and a commitment to compassionate, evidence-based medicine are essential. Veterinary surgeons with 2–5 years of post-residency experience are particularly encouraged to apply.
