Fleet Engineer - Edge Computing & Device Management

Role Descriptions:

8+ years of experience managing Linux-based edge device fleets.
Hands-on experience with fleet management tools like BalenaCloud| balenaCLI| metropolis and container-based deployments
Strong experience with Docker containers and Docker Compose
CI/CD pipeline implementation using tools such as GitLab CI/CD| GitHub Actions| or Jenkins
Container image build| optimization| and deployment practices6.Version control using Git
Strong Linux administration skills (Ubuntu| Debian| Raspberry Pi OS)
Device troubleshooting| remote diagnostics| and log analysis
Shell scripting (Bash)
Network configuration and security for remote edge devices
Python for automation| deployment tools| and monitoring
API integration and automation scripting

Good-to-Have

Experience integrating edge devices with cloud platforms such as:
Azure IoT
AWS IoT
Google Cloud IoT
Understanding of VPNs| firewalls| proxies| and secure communications
Familiarity with MQTT| REST APIs| WebSockets
Air-gapped/offline deployment strategies
Kubernetes/K3s at the edge
Device security| certificate management| and secure boot
Observability tools (Prometheus| Grafana| ELK Stack)
Experience with ARM-based devices (Raspberry Pi| Jetson| etc..)SNResponsibility of / Expectations from the Role 1
Provision| configure| and onboard edge devices into BalenaCloud fleets.
Manage device lifecycle activities including registration| updates| maintenance| and decommissioning.
Deploy and monitor containerized applications across distributed edge device fleets.
Configure fleet-wide environment variables| device settings| and application releases.
Plan and execute OTA (Over-the-Air) software and firmware updates with minimal operational disruption.
