About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 6 months Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years in Labor and Delivery License: Must have state license or compact Certifications: BLS, NRP, ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, AWHONN Intermediate Must-Have: - Minimum of 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience. - Epic experience required. - Unit does not accept first-time travelers. - Local applicants within 50 miles will receive a reduced rate. Description: The Registered Nurse provides comprehensive nursing care to mothers and babies during ante-, intra-, and post-partum periods. This includes care in-unit for C-sections and other gynecological procedures. Staffing ratios are 1:2 during labor and 1:3 for couplet care. The nurse will not be required to take call or float to medical/surgical units. Rotating weekends every other weekend is required. The nurse will support various procedures and interventions related to maternal and neonatal care. Competency-based orientation must be completed to become proficient in serving the maternal and newborn patient population. Interdisciplinary support will include various healthcare teams. The daily census is approximately 15 patients with a maximum of 38 beds available. All relevant certifications must be valid and accepted. The Registered Nurse should possess skills in administration of blood products, neonatal resuscitation, and postpartum care. A strong emphasis on patient education and support for new mothers is required. References are necessary for this position. Additional floating requirements may apply depending on unit needs.
