Protective Security Officer - Captain
The Captain will provide close supervision of Protective Security Officers assigned to the project. In addition, will perform administrative tasks including timekeeping, disciplinary actions, and report tracking. The Captain will respond to after-hours incidents as directed by Task Order Management or FPS Emergency Management. The Captain will serve as supervisor and report directly to the Task Order Manager. Other duties may be assigned.
Responsibilities include ensuring scheduling practices follow contract requirements and is cost effective, ensuring each employee is familiar with their post, duties and responsibilities, ensuring the activities of guard force personnel are assigned, coordinated and supervised in a productive manner, and ensuring proper management, supervision and training of probationary personnel.
Other responsibilities include ensuring policies and procedures are followed and enforced by Shift Supervisors, assisting in identifying training needs for subordinates and recommending appropriate action, assisting with quality assurance testing and corrective measures, continually reviewing, evaluating operations and implementing changes for improvement in morale and processes as needed, understanding the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), the Statement of Work (SOW), Post Orders and his/her role and responsibilities in executing the documents, disseminating policies and procedures to guard force personnel and ensuring Roll Call (Guard Mount) training for Shift Supervisors is conducted, sustaining a work environment that promotes and encourages an effective flow of communication, continuous process improvement, and teamwork within the organization, promoting a trusting relationship between security operations, the public, other law enforcement agencies, and FPS organizations, providing briefing activities concerning unusual or major incidents as needed or when directed, assisting in monitoring movement of government property, as needed, to deter loss, performing other duties as directed by the site management, conducting post checks, including after-hours, reviewing, managing, and approving employee time-cards, conducting spot checks of Shift Supervisor logs and Dispatch logs, reviewing, coordinating and interpreting policy standards and directives; analyzing and formulating strategies for the resolution of issues and concerns, organizing and/or overseeing the preparation, update, and modification of site rules, regulations, policy and procedures, updating, distributing, and maintaining General "Guard" Orders, Post Orders, emergency and special orders for each security post and position, and providing statistical data and/or other reports to the COR as required by the Statement of Work (SOW).
Qualifications include being 21 years old, being a U.S. Citizen or legally eligible to work in the United States, a minimum of two (2) years of security (armed), or one (1) year of law enforcement experience with a full-service police municipal, state or federal enforcement department; or a minimum of two (2) years of honorable service as a member of any US Armed Forces, a minimum of three (3) years of successful experience of field supervision (preferably in civilian community law enforcement, military law enforcement or commercial/industrial security force service), having a Social Security Card issued by the Social Security Administration, having a H.S. Diploma or GED, being able to meet and continue to meet all applicable federal, state, county and municipal licensing requirements for Security Officers, being able to read, speak, write, and understand the English language and ability to prepare detailed written reports and fill out forms, being able to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screening, being able to pass a background investigation to include but not limited to criminal, credit and driving record checks, being able to pass US Government background investigation for required security clearance if necessary, ability to obtain a Top-Secret Security Clearance, intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, having a strong working knowledge of security operations and safety practices in a business environment, exceptional firearm proficiency, ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with staff, the client and the public. Be able to prepare, understand and follow standard operating procedures; perform duties in a professional manner, write, prepare, and investigate required reports, being able to manage and mentor a diverse group of employees, be respectful and approachable, willing to interact with direct reports daily, take direction from upper management and maintain a manner of professionalism in all interactions, skill and ability to retain in-depth knowledge of applicable federal laws, orders, policies, and standard procedures relative to operations, ability to follow company safety rules and GS policies, ability to maintain integrity and trustworthiness which is mandatory, ability to obtain and maintain a valid Driver's License, ability to work rotating shifts and overtime, and actively support the Company's Affirmative Action Plan goals and comply with the Company's Equal Opportunity Policy.

Physical demands and work environment may include exposure to stressful situations, standing or walking constantly on various surfaces, climbing stairs, ramps, ladders, occasionally during shift, ability to perform the physical aspects of the job as needed, ability to bend, stoop, run, and ability to adapt to the given situation physically and mentally. Telecommuting, flex schedules and remote work locations are not available for this position as related to the ADAAA. Due to the nature of the position, physical presence is required as an essential function of the job.
