2026-27 Maintenance Technician II – Facilities & Construction Starting Date: July 6, 2026 Location: Facilities & Construction Schedule: 12 months, 8 hours/day, 2:00 pm – 10:30 pm Grade: 18, $17.99/hour Position Type: 1.0 FTE, Non-Interim Purpose Statement The Facilities & Construction Maintenance Technician II supports the educational process by maintaining facilities in safe operating condition, addressing operational and safety concerns, assisting senior technicians with general maintenance tasks—carpentry, plumbing, masonry, electrical, welding, locksmith, HVAC, generator preventive maintenance, and grounds keeping—and ensuring tools and materials are available at job sites. Essential Functions Arrange furniture and equipment for special events. Assist Maintenance Technicians III and IV in transporting and securing materials and completing tasks. Attend meetings, workshops, trainings, and seminars to convey and gather essential information. Build items such as counters and temporary partitions to modify facilities as needed. Coordinate with leads, supervisors, and other trades to complete projects and work orders efficiently. Maintain records (e.g., generator usage, filter replacement dates) in accordance with guidelines. Maintain vehicle, tools, and equipment to ensure availability and safe operation. Perform general maintenance activities to meet project time frames. Conduct preventive maintenance on lighting, heating, ventilation, alarms, plumbing, security, and electrical panels. Execute general grounds keeping: mowing, athletic field lining, wood chip spreading. Process written materials such as work orders for documentation. Repair equipment, systems, and structural items to ensure safe working conditions. Request equipment and supplies, ensuring availability for installations or repairs. Service locks—adjust, fix, replace batteries—to maintain security. Transport tools, equipment, and supplies to guarantee material availability at job sites. Other Functions Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective functioning of the work unit. Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Experience: Job‑related experience required. Citizenship, residency or work visa required. Skills: Operate skilled‑trade equipment, power and hand tools, adhere to safety practices, handle hazardous materials. Knowledge: Basic math (fractions, percents, ratios), understand written procedures, write routine documents, speak clearly, comprehend multi‑step instructions; knowledge of standard methods, materials, and tools in assigned trades; safety practices and procedures. Abilities: Schedule activities, collate data, use job‑related equipment; flexibility to work with others; problem‑solving to identify issues and select action plans; adapt to changing priorities; develop effective working relationships; mechanical aptitude; work under time constraints; maintain rapport with students, employees, and community. Physical Demands: Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing; stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling; fine finger dexterity; 20% sitting, 30% walking, 50% standing; work in temperature extremes and exposure to injury risk. Required Testing / Certificates and Licenses: Online Driver Training Certification, Driver's License, Evidence of Insurability. Clearances: Criminal Background Clearance; Valid Arizona DPS Level I IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
