A great UHY client is seeking a Regional Tax Operations Lead . The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of tax or accounting practice operations experience, expertise in client allocation and workload management, and experience driving software adoption and operational integration across teams.

The Regional Tax Operations Lead role is a remote position with occasional travel. This is a client direct hire position.

Regional Tax Operations Lead Responsibilities

\n

\n
• Manage client and engagement allocation across multiple practices, balancing staff capacity, expertise, workload, and client relationship continuity.
\n
• Monitor workload distribution and utilization, identifying capacity gaps, imbalances, and opportunities to improve resource planning.
\n
• Partner with practice leaders to reallocate clients and engagements as staffing needs, turnover, and seasonal demand change.
\n
• Maintain a region-wide view of client assignments and workload to support operational planning and decision-making.
\n
• Drive adoption of standardized tax and practice management systems through training, office hours, change management, and ongoing support.
\n
• Track system usage, workflow completion, and adoption metrics, addressing gaps and escalating concerns to leadership.
\n
• Coordinate with Product and Transformation teams on regional system rollouts and process changes.
\n
• Promote consistent use of standardized workflows, checklists, standard operating procedures, and service delivery practices.
\n
• Conduct process reviews to identify deviations, operational gaps, and compliance risks, and partner with practice leaders on remediation.
\n
• Oversee document management practices, including file organization, naming conventions, records retention, and access controls.
\n
• Partner with Compliance and IT/Security teams to address documentation and records management deficiencies.
\n
• Support the integration of newly acquired firms by helping staff adopt standardized systems, processes, and operating expectations.
\n
• Identify and escalate operational, compliance, and staffing risks to regional leadership.
\n
• Develop and maintain dashboards covering client allocation, utilization, software adoption, process compliance, and document management.
\n
• Provide regular operational reporting and metrics to regional leadership to support planning and continuous improvement.

Regional Tax Operations Lead Requirements

\n

\n
• 5+ years of experience in practice operations, professional services operations, or a related role within tax or accounting.
\n
• Demonstrated experience managing client or engagement allocation, workload balancing, or capacity planning.
\n
• Experience driving software or systems adoption across teams, ideally during a platform transition or acquisition integration.
\n
• Familiarity with document management, records retention, and compliance requirements in a professional services environment.
\n
• Strong process orientation with experience developing, implementing, or enforcing standard operating procedures.
\n
• Ability to coordinate operations across multiple offices, practices, or teams simultaneously.
\n
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, particularly when supporting staff through organizational or operational change.
\n
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
\n
• Ability to balance process consistency and accountability with the needs of employees adapting to new expectations.
\n
• Experience in a private equity-backed, multi-acquisition, or rapidly growing professional services environment preferred.
\n
• Familiarity with tax and accounting practice management software preferred.
\n
• Experience supporting mergers and acquisitions integration in professional or financial services preferred.
\n
• Background with a Big Four or national accounting firm in a practice administration, operations management, or similar role preferred.
