Job Description

Our client is a prominent player in the food manufacturing industry, currently seeking a Senior Accountant to join their finance team. This role is essential for ensuring the integrity of plant-level financial data, managing the general ledger, and providing key insights into manufacturing costs and asset management. The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced production environment.

Responsibilities

• General Ledger Management: Oversee day-to-day accounting activities, including the preparation and posting of journal entries and rigorous account reconciliations.
• Fixed Asset Accounting: Maintain and analyze fixed asset records, ensuring accurate depreciation schedules and tracking of capital expenditures (CAPEX) for the facility.
• Month-End & Year-End Close: Lead the month-end closing process by identifying fluctuations, determining root causes for variances, and ensuring all deadlines are met.
• Financial Reporting: Assist the Controller in preparing financial statements, yield performance reports, and variance analysis to improve operational efficiency.
• Audit Support: Coordinate with internal and external auditors to provide necessary documentation and ensure compliance with GAAP and corporate policies.
• Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline accounting workflows and enhance the accuracy of financial data within the ERP system.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field is preferred.
• Experience: 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience, specifically within a manufacturing environment .
• Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, and complex formulas) is required. Previous experience with manufacturing-specific ERP software is highly a plus.
• Management & Oversight: Demonstrated ability to manage complex reconciliations and provide oversight for inventory-related accounts and fixed asset tracking.
• Process Knowledge: Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and experience with sales/use tax filings within a manufacturing context.
• Specific Skills: Analytical mindset with the ability to \"tell the story\" behind the numbers, specifically regarding production yields and manufacturing variances.
