Educational Consultant (ELA or Reading) – Per Diem – Kansas City, Missouri This is not a remote position. Onsite district work is required. Job Overview Curriculum Associates seeks a temporary, part-time Professional Learning Educational Consultant (ELA or Reading) with a background in teaching ELA or Reading, coaching teachers, delivering professional development, analyzing data, and working with school leaders. The consultant will facilitate high-quality professional development, training, support, data analysis, and communicate consultatively with teachers and leaders. Responsibilities Facilitate high-quality professional development, training, and support sessions. Analyze data and engage teachers and leaders in data-driven instruction. Cooperate with school leaders to identify implementation successes and challenges. Adjust professional learning workshops to meet participant needs within specified parameters. Provide on-site support, including lesson planning, pacing, and data application. Track and submit detailed training notes and complete all assignments in a timely manner. Present a professional image at all times to customers and prospects. Engage in the internal cycle of improvement and development, including observation, feedback, and coaching. Schedule hours as needed, typically during normal school hours, with peak times August to October and January to February. Travel up to 80% of the time, including overnight stays, and use of car, plane, and public transportation. Qualifications Minimum: Bachelor’s degree and at least 2+ years of experience teaching ELA or Reading, coaching teachers, and providing professional development. Master’s degree in ELA or Reading preferred. Strong knowledge of Common Core State Standards for ELA or Reading for grades K–8. Proficient with digital tools, including online assessments. Comfortable discussing and applying data with teachers and leaders. Understanding of adult learning principles. Excellent facilitation, interpersonal, and communication skills. Exceptional time management and organizational skills, with high attention to detail. Proficient computer and internet skills, including Office programs and online meeting platforms such as Zoom or WebEx. Ability to work independently and as part of an educational cohort. Bilingual in Spanish preferred. Compensation and Benefits Hourly pay ranges from $30 to $65 per hour, depending on assignment type. Compensation includes professional learning delivery, internal training, travel time, and travel expenses. Company-provided laptop. Mileage reimbursement may be available. Schedule & Location Per diem consultants are scheduled on an as-needed basis, typically during normal school hours. This position is based in Missouri; candidates must live in or be willing to relocate to Missouri and possess a valid driver’s license and own transportation. Start date: ASAP.
