Veterinary Assistant Careers at Banfield Pet Hospital This position will remain open for at least two weeks from the posting date. Salary : $15.99 - $20.44 per hour. The specific rate will be based on experience, skill level, and education. Education and Licenses : Certificate of completion from a NAVTA‑approved veterinary assistant program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Experience : Must be able to perform all required skills of a NAVTA‑approved program at a level that supports practice efficiency. Job Summary The Veterinary Assistant is a key member of the hospital team who supports veterinarians and veterinary technicians, ensuring the safety of pets, clients, and associates and maintaining quality veterinary care. Responsibilities Assist in maintaining the flow of patient care. Communicate with veterinarians and technicians. Carry out or set up procedures that do not require veterinary or technician assistance. Adhere to hospital standards for pet safety and keep exam rooms, labs, and treatment areas clean and organized. Educate clients about Optimum Wellness Plans and preventive care. Mentor other members of the hospital team.
