Alaska Teaching Position

The area Nome is located on the southern Seward Peninsula coast on the Norton Sound of the Bering Sea. It has a population of 4000. A great place to have an Alaskan adventure. Norton Sound Health Corporation is organized in six sections: Community Health Services, Hospital Services, Medical Staff, Human Resources, Finance, and Engineering and Capital Projects. The President/CEO and General Counsel report directly to the Board of Directors. Direct reports to the President/CEO include those from the Chief Operations Officer, Medical Director, Compliance Officer, Quality Director, Public Relations, Administration, and Tribal Self-Governance.

The departments under Community Health Services include Village Health Services, Behavioral Health Services, Health Aide Training, Wellness, Office of Environmental Health, Infant Learning Program, and Environmental Services/Laundry. Village Health Services manages village clinic staff, including Community Health Aides and Clinic Travel Clerks. Behavioral Health Services includes Nome staff and Village-Based Counseling. The Wellness department includes CAMP, WIC, Tribal Healing, and Nutrition Services.

This is a role that is very much needed for the people of Alaska. Teaching position only. You are based and living in Nome. You are teaching native residents how to act as a Health Aide in remote villages. Teaching them seeing patients in emergent situations, acute situations, well child and EMT type skills Monday - Friday Typically 8 - 5 (might be some extra hours in the beginning of tenure) Compensation and benefits Hourly wage of $87 - $97 DOE Comprehensive benefit plan $20,000 sign on bonus Substantial retention bonus Relocation up to $15,000 $6,000 CME CME time off.

NHSC Loan Repayment: This position is at a National Health Service Corps (NHSC)-approved site. Base salary: $87 - $97/hr. Providers here may qualify for up to $75,000 in tax-free federal student-loan repayment over a 2-year full-time commitment. Award amounts depend on the annual application cycle and your eligibility.
