The Warehouse Associate plays a key role in shipping, receiving, and material handling operations within a modern, clean, and highly organized facility. This position prepares products by skid, crate, or box for shipment, processes routine and standard shipping paperwork, supports assembly through repackaging and kitting, and operates various types of forklifts and material handling equipment to move, stage, and store materials safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Prepare products by skid, crate, or box for shipment and accurately process routine and standard shipping paperwork.

• Maintain a clean and safe working environment by ensuring timely disposition, organization, and proper storage of materials.

• Support assembly operations by repackaging, kitting, and staging materials as needed.

• Safely remove and dispose of wood, plastic, metal, and other packaging materials according to established procedures.

• Use SAP to update storage bin information, identify materials, and locate inventory within the warehouse.

• Complete routine inspections of material handling equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.

• Operate a turret truck forklift to pick orders from elevated positions, following all safety guidelines.

• Operate a sit-down forklift to move picked orders from racks to the shipping area.

• Unload and load trucks daily using forklifts, following standard unloading and loading procedures.

• Handle scrap bins by transporting them to the unloading area and transferring materials into dumpsters.

• Unload incoming trucks according to procedure and visually inspect parts before moving them to receiving parts staging areas.

• Operate forklift trucks and/or cranes to move materials into and out of assembly and other production areas.

• Manage shipping and receiving activities, including handling multiple inbound and outbound trucks per day.

• Assist with inventory control tasks, including warehouse inventory management and order picking.

• Use RF scanners, shipping systems, and tools such as UPS WorldShip and bills of lading to support logistics operations.

• Perform general material handling duties such as unloading, packaging, and production support as needed.

• Adhere to all safety expectations, including the use of required personal protective equipment and compliance with facility safety standards.

Essential Skills

• Previous experience operating sit-down or stand-up forklifts in a warehouse or distribution environment.

• Comfort working at heights and operating very narrow aisle forklifts, including stand-up turret trucks.

• Experience with material handling, including loading, unloading, and moving products within a warehouse.

• Background in shipping and receiving, warehouse distribution, and logistics support.

• Ability to perform order picking, packaging, and inventory-related tasks accurately and efficiently.

• Familiarity with warehouse inventory control processes and basic inventory management practices.

• Ability to use RF scanners and follow bills of lading and other shipping documentation.

• Comfort working in an environment where there may be smells such as paint and oil.

• Understanding that the role is versatile and will not involve operating a forklift for the entire shift.

• Commitment to following safety procedures, including wearing safety glasses and steel toe shoes at all times on site.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience operating turret truck forklifts in a warehouse setting.

• Previous shipping and receiving experience with multiple daily inbound and outbound trucks.

• Familiarity with bills of lading, inventory paperwork, and other shipping documents.

• Experience using UPS WorldShip or similar shipping systems.

• Comfort working with SAP or similar warehouse management systems to manage storage bin information and locate materials.

• Experience with stand-up reach trucks, stand-up lifts, and turret trucks in a logistics environment.

• Exposure to production and warehouse environments that follow lean and 5S principles.

• Ability to adapt to a team-oriented environment and respond positively to direct, straightforward feedback.

Work Environment

The facility is modern, clean, and highly organized, operating under strong 5S principles—sort, set in order, shine, standardize, and sustain. It is well lit, climate controlled, and laid out with spacious aisles and clearly defined departments, including new production, wind service (disassembly), industrial (repairs and new builds), and logistics (shipping and receiving). The role is on second shift, typically from 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., with work focused on warehouse, shipping, receiving, and material handling activities. The environment may include smells such as paint and oil, consistent with industrial operations. Safety standards are very high, with a record of multiple years without lost-time injuries or recordable incidents. All team members must wear safety glasses and steel toe shoes at all times, and a company shirt is provided; employees should wear jeans or pants they do not mind getting dirty. The workplace is team-oriented, lean-driven, and structured to support efficient, safe operations while providing two paid 20-minute breaks per shift.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elgin, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.42 - $21.42/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
