Description of Work The primary responsibility of the Health Care Technician I (HCT I) is to provide support to clients in working toward the goals and objectives of their treatment plans and to manage the milieu on each unit. This will be provided through his or her assistance to clients and the treatment team in the areas of fostering a therapeutic environment on the unit, helping clients in activities of daily living skills, helping the treatment team to monitor any medical, emotional, behavioral or social problems, and supporting the clients in their efforts to overcome these problems. It is the responsibility of the HCT I to accompany and/or transport patients in need of medical services outside the facility. The HCT I manages the milieu of the unit by close observation and interaction with all patients. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Management Preferences Recruitment Range: $31,200 to $46,348 Ability to communicate, orally and in writing, effectively with clients and staff, to complete procedures, and accurately complete documentation. Frequent walking, standing, and lifting are required. Machines, tools, instruments, equipment and materials used: copy machine, telephone, fax machine, PA system, wheelchairs, blood pressure cuff, VCR, tympanic thermometer, pulse oximetry, breathalyzer, Doppler, fire detector alert/panel, UDS machine if trained; EHR software. Visual attention, mental concentration, and manipulative skills: visual attention and manipulative skills required for blood pressure and breathalyzer. Mental concentration required in interaction with and observation of clients and in documentation. Excellent time management and organizational skills. Schedule and Employment This position will work 8‑hour days, (8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.). This position is designated mandatory and must report or stay over during adverse weather events. All employment is full‑time, permanent. Sign‑On Bonus A sign‑on bonus of $2,000 is offered to the successful applicant(s) of this posting. Eligibility conditions are described below. Eligibility for Sign‑On Bonus To qualify for the sign‑on bonus, a newly hired permanent full‑time or permanent part‑time employee must work 30 to 40 hours per week. Those who work less than 40 hours per week receive a pro‑rated rate. An employee is not eligible for a sign‑on bonus if:

• The employee has held a position in the North Carolina State government, including the judicial system, or the University of North Carolina system, within the last 12 months (the employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the separation date).
• The employee has previously received a sign‑on bonus from any state agency.
• DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees.

All sign‑on bonuses are contingent upon budget and final eligibility determination as of the effective date of hire. About the Facility JFK ADATC is a 68‑bed inpatient treatment facility designed to meet the needs of adults with substance use disorders from the 44 westernmost counties in North Carolina. The facility treats individuals with substance abuse and psychiatric diagnoses. JFK is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations as a behavioral health facility and certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services as an inpatient psychiatric hospital.
