Role Description This full-time, on-site Assistant Athletic Trainer position is based in Emmitsburg, MD and primarily supports Men’s Lacrosse and Men’s & Women’s Tennis. The Assistant Athletic Trainer will provide daily athletic training services, including injury evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and return-to-play planning for assigned teams. Responsibilities include coordinating injury prevention programs, pre- and post-practice preparation, and on-field or courtside coverage for practices, team conditioning, and home and away competitions as assigned. The role also involves maintaining accurate medical records, assisting with physician referrals, and ensuring compliance with NCAA, conference, and institutional policies. The Assistant Athletic Trainer will collaborate closely with coaches, strength and conditioning staff, sports medicine providers, and campus health services to promote student‑athlete well‑being and performance. Qualifications Strong foundation in Athletic Training with demonstrated ability to evaluate, manage, and treat sport-related injuries for collegiate student-athletes. Skills in Injury Prevention and Prevention-focused programming, including taping, bracing, screening, and education to reduce risk of injury. Experience in Strength & Conditioning support, including collaboration on safe training plans and monitoring athlete readiness in coordination with coaching staff. Proficiency in Rehabilitation programming, including designing and implementing evidence-based therapeutic exercise and return-to-play protocols. Current BOC certification as an Athletic Trainer and eligibility for (or possession of) Maryland athletic training licensure. Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications for healthcare providers. Experience working with high-level athletes; collegiate athletic training experience, especially in lacrosse and/or tennis, is preferred. Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills, with the ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and travel as required.
