Job Description
Solano-Napa Habitat for Humanity
Director of Development
Job Announcement:
Solano-Napa Habitat for Humanity seeks a mission-driven, entrepreneurial Director of Development to design and implement a momentous capital campaign and build a sustainable fundraising program
About Solano-Napa Habitat for Humanity (SNHFH)
SNHFH provides local low-income families with an opportunity for affordable homeownership. By building houses in partnership with those families and hundreds of Habitat volunteers, SNHFH’s so-called partner families are empowered by having a safe place to live and thrive.
Since its founding in 1991, SNHFH has built or repaired 68 houses, gradually progressing to ever-larger projects. With the recent completion of a three-house project in Fairfield, a transformative building project on the horizon, and substantial government support, SNHFH is embarking on an exciting new chapter – one in which fundraising will play a significant role.
About the Campaign:
SNHFH plans to build 10 single-family homes on a 1-acre parcel in Vacaville. The development is called Harmony Village, and all land-use permits and site improvement plans have been approved, and the land has been acquired. Ground-breaking is scheduled for 2026 and with a total project cost estimated at $5.5M, these ambitious plans have already attracted $2.0M in public funding. A capital campaign is proposed to raise the remaining $3.5M.
About the Position:
Job Title: Director of Development (DoD)
This newly created position will join the SNHFH team at a critical moment in the organisation’s history. Reporting to the CEO, the DoD will be an experienced, proactive fundraising professional who can lead and successfully complete SNHFH’s first capital campaign and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders. The DoD will provide key leadership in all funding development areas.
With a focus on building a donor pipeline, the Director will work closely with the CEO to create and implement campaign plans and prospect strategies and establish an ongoing major gifts program for corporate and individual donors to sustain and support SNHFH’s future growth.
Time Commitment: This is a full-time exempt position requiring flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed for meetings and special events. The DoD will work at least five days a week, Monday – Friday (40-hour work week with 8-hour days).
Salary Range: $70,000 - $90,000 per year.
Benefits: Twelve paid holidays per year, 80 hours of paid vacation, participation in Kaiser Health or Western Health Plan, 8 hours of sick leave per month.

- Prepare reports for the CEO, campaign leadership, and Board of Directors
- Develop and execute targeted cultivation plans and solicitation strategies for a range of prospects
- Ensure that systems are in place for timely and accurate donor acknowledgement, stewardship, and public recognition
- Develop, launch, and implement a sustainable philanthropy program for SNHFH
- Develop philanthropic communications and branding materials for the program in collaboration with the Development Coordinator, with an eye toward raising brand awareness
- Participate in strategic planning with the CEO and senior leadership team
