Summary: To provide direct and indirect nursing care to a patient or a group of patients. Responsibilities will be working in the admitting 25%/recovery 50%/ procedural room areas 25%.

Responsibilities:

• Adheres to established Nursing Standards of practice to include: Assessment, Planning, Implementation and Evaluation.
• Practices according to Unit-based Protocols.
• Administers medication/IV solution according to Norwalk Hospital policy/procedure and consults appropriate resources for information as needed.
• Assesses learning needs of patient and family or significant others.
• Plans and provides appropriate instruction.
• Assesses and documents effectiveness of teaching.
• Participates in unit-based activities and participates in Nursing/Hospital Committees.
• Attends staff development - Continuing Education Programs and attends JCAHO and OSHA programs annually.
• Maintains and updates Educational Record.
• Maintains a positive working environment through personal example and fostering teamwork.
• Facilitates patient care and delegates responsibilities to other team members to provide a therapeutic environment.
• Assumes role of charge RN and demonstrates independent problem solving and decision making skills.
• Demonstrates good organizational and prioritization skills, able to assist in orientation and teaching of nursing personnel.

Education: ASSOCIATE'S LVL DEGREE Required: Current RN License in State of Connecticut

Working Conditions: Manual: significant manual skills/motor coord & finger dexterity Occupational: Significant occupational risk Physical Effort: Very Heavy effort. May exert up to 50 lbs. force Physical Environment: Significant exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.
