Mechanical Engineering Intern Summer 2026

Job Description Under the direction of a degreed engineer, performs a variety of basic to moderately‑difficult engineering projects that require a fundamental knowledge of design/drafting standards, practices, and techniques. The incumbent at this level typically takes engineering notes, specifications, rough sketches, etc., and formalizes them into working drawings. Assignments are designed to develop a practical knowledge of equipment, facilities, and systems, and their interrelationships within a particular engineering discipline. This position is part of the Federal Solutions team, which delivers resources to U.S. Government customers in defense, security, intelligence, infrastructure, and environmental fields. Responsibilities Assisting engineers with technical tasks, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving. Working with cross‑functional teams, including other engineers, designers, and stakeholders, to achieve project goals. Preparing technical documentation, reports, and manuals. Assisting with project support tasks, including scheduling, tracking progress, and ensuring deadlines are met. Conducting research to support engineering projects and staying updated on industry trends and technologies. Participating in quality assurance processes, including inspections and audits. Performing other responsibilities associated with the position as may be appropriate. Skills and Competencies PC literacy. Working knowledge of CAD. Working knowledge of other computer software used to complete design assignments. Education and Experience Enrolled in an engineering curriculum at an accredited college or university. Completed typically 1+ year of studies in a major engineering discipline (e.g., Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, etc.). 0+ years of typical experience. Security Clearance None Fit for Duty Exam Required. Successful completion of the exam(s) will be required prior to onboarding.
