Brad Stewart with Robert Half Finance & Accounting is recruiting for a Staff Accountant to support daily accounting operations and help maintain reliable financial records for a client in Reno, Nevada. This role will contribute to core close activities, account analysis, and reporting while partnering with the broader finance team to uphold sound accounting practices.

Responsibilities:

• Record and review journal entries, including accruals and other period-end adjustments, to keep the general ledger accurate and current.

• Perform reconciliations across key balance sheet accounts such as cash, payables, receivables, prepaid expenses, and fixed assets, resolving issues as they arise.

• Contribute to month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities by preparing schedules, validating balances, and meeting reporting timelines.

• Assist in producing financial statements and internal management reports by organizing supporting data and verifying accuracy.

• Investigate fluctuations in account activity, identify the source of variances, and recommend corrective action when needed.

• Provide audit support by compiling requested documentation, preparing account schedules, and responding to internal or external inquiries.

• Follow established accounting policies and internal controls to help ensure compliance and consistency in financial processes.

• Support accounts payable and accounts receivable tasks when needed, including transaction review and posting.

• Maintain complete and well-organized backup for accounting entries, reconciliations, and reporting deliverables.

• Participate in budgeting, forecasting, tax-related support, and ad hoc financial analysis as business needs require.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline.
• At least 3 years of accounting experience in a corporate environment, public accounting setting, or a combination of both.
• Working knowledge of general ledger accounting, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial close procedures.
• Experience supporting corporate tax, sales tax, or related compliance activities is beneficial.
• Strong Excel skills and familiarity with accounting software such as NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, or similar platforms.
• High level of accuracy, strong organizational ability, and a disciplined approach to documentation.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver quality work within established deadlines.
