Hot Heading Machinist in Gardena, CA — $22.00–$30.00/hr DOE, 2nd shift, contract-to-hire. Set up and run hot-heading and forge-press equipment for aerospace parts.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Hot metal, production tooling, and a first article that has to meet the print.

Perform intermediate forging and hot-heading operations with minimal assistance. Install tooling, verify setups and first articles, and troubleshoot dimensional or forging defects.

The work includes setup, inspection, and hands-on operation around hot-heading and forge-press equipment. You must follow process instructions and identify defects during production.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

- Review travelers, work orders, blueprints, and heading sketches

- Set up and operate hot-heading machines and forge presses

- Install dies, molds, cutters, tooling, and machine components

- Verify die heights, alignment, and dimensional tolerances

- Adjust setups and tooling to correct production issues

- Produce and inspect first-article parts

- Identify forge rolling, mismatch, and dimensional defects

- Measure parts with micrometers, calipers, templates, and gauges and document results

WHAT YOU NEED

- At least 1 year of hot-heading, forge-press, or forging machinery experience

- Ability to read blueprints, travelers, and work instructions

- Basic machine setup and tooling-adjustment experience

- Knowledge of precision measuring and inspection tools

- Understanding of forge-press operation and tooling

- Ability to identify forging defects and quality concerns

- Basic shop math and ability to read, write, and communicate in English

NICE TO HAVE

- Aerospace fastener manufacturing experience

- Experience in metal forming or aerospace production

- High school diploma or GED

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Install and adjust tooling and machine components, handle parts, and use precision measuring tools around forging equipment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Aerospace manufacturing floor with hot-heading machines and forge presses. PPE is required and provided, and all plant safety procedures apply.
