Quality Assurance Inspector

Job Details: Job Location: Applied Aerospace - Oklahoma City, OK, Position Type: Contractor, Salary Range: Undisclosed, Job Shift: Day, SUMMARY The Quality Assurance Inspector verifies the dimensional accuracy, workmanship, and overall quality of precision-machined components using manual inspection equipment and Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM). This position ensures products conform to customer specifications, engineering drawings, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) requirements, and applicable quality standards before shipment. The Inspector partners with Machinists, CNC Programmers, Manufacturing Engineering, and Quality personnel to identify nonconformances, support corrective actions, and maintain compliance with company and customer requirements. This position is located at the Applied Aerospace division of Applied Industrial Machining, 1545 SE 29th Street. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections on precision-machined components Operate Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) to inspect complex parts using programmed inspection routines Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, CAD models, customer specifications, and GD&T requirements Verify dimensions using micrometers, calipers, height gauges, bore gauges, thread gauges, surface plates, optical comparators, pin gauges, and dial indicators Create, edit, and maintain CMM inspection programs as required Document inspection results accurately and maintain complete quality records Generate First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) in accordance with customer requirements Identify, document, segregate, and communicate nonconforming material; initiate Nonconformance Reports (NCRs) when required Partner with Manufacturing Engineering and Production to resolve dimensional issues and verify completed corrective actions before product release Maintain awareness of inspection-equipment calibration status and promptly report calibration concerns Assist with internal and customer audits as requested Maintain a clean, organized, and safe inspection area Support continuous improvement initiatives within the Quality Management System Qualifications: KNOWLEDGE Strong knowledge of precision inspection methods and the proper use of manual measuring instruments Advanced ability to read complex engineering drawings, blueprints, CAD models, specifications, and GD&T callouts Knowledge of CMM operation and inspection programming; experience with PC-DMIS, Calypso, MCOSMOS, or similar software preferred Knowledge of First Article Inspection requirements, including AS9102, preferred Familiarity with ISO 9001 or AS9100 Quality Management Systems and aerospace or Oil & Gas manufacturing requirements preferred Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC), nonconformance documentation, corrective action, and calibration practices preferred COMPETENCIES Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and organization Ability to prioritize multiple inspection requests while supporting production schedules Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with production personnel, programmers, engineers, and quality staff High level of integrity, sound judgment, and commitment to quality EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION High school diploma or GED required Minimum of three years of quality inspection experience in a precision machining or manufacturing environment required Demonstrated ability to read complex engineering drawings and specifications and apply GD&T requirements Proficiency with precision measuring instruments required Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office and quality documentation software required Experience operating Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) preferred Experience with PC-DMIS, Calypso, MCOSMOS, or similar CMM software preferred AS9100 manufacturing and AS9102 First Article Inspection experience preferred Aerospace or Oil & Gas manufacturing experience preferred WORKING CONDITIONS Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to moving machinery, metal chips, coolants, moderate noise levels, and varying temperatures Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is required Frequently stand and walk throughout the workday Occasionally lift up to 40 pounds Use hands for precision measuring and computer work, with frequent bending, reaching, and stooping Ability to distinguish fine visual detail Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS Complete accurate dimensional inspections within required timelines Maintain complete, accurate, and high-quality inspection documentation Minimize inspection errors and promptly communicate quality concerns Support production schedules without compromising customer or company quality standards Consistently support corrective action and continuous process improvement initiatives WORK AUTHORIZATION/SECURITY CLEARANCE Must be legally authorized to work in the United States If a security clearance is required: Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearance requirements Successful candidates must be able to obtain required Program Access approval, if applicable #J-18808-Ljbffr Paycom
