The Kentucky Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) is a multi-faceted agency that serves juveniles of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To, The Following Positions performing these functions will be under the professional supervision of a licensed psychologist approved by the Kentucky Board of Examiners of Psychology. Certified psychologists or licensed psychological practitioners who have been granted autonomous functioning by the Kentucky Board of Examiners of Psychology can function without being under the supervision of a licensed psychologist. This requirement applies for the length of employment in this classification. Serves as lead psychologist. Provides psychological counseling services to juvenile offenders and their families. Provides psychological individual, group, and family counseling based on identified need to identify juvenile offenders and their families, as applicable. Completes court‑ordered or agency‑directed assessments, including juvenile sexual offender assessments, as well as psychological testing. Provides consultative services to DJJ programs and staff responsible for implementing a variety of behavioral management programs for juveniles. Maintains mental health file on all youth who receive services to include: all copies of assessments, reassessments, court reports, release of information, information received as a result of the release, treatment work completed by youth and family, and detailed treatment notes as a result of each session. Enters all case contacts in the youth’s electronic file. Contacts shall consist of a brief statement that includes who was present and contacted, level of participation and cooperation, and next scheduled contact or plan of action. Participates in treatment planning conferences and reviews for cases being served by DJJ mental health. Maintains contact with DJJ social service workers to update on relevant case information and treatment progress. Reports any known violations of youth’s conditions of supervision to social service worker immediately. Participates in administrative revocation hearings. Completes professional development opportunities via trainings, workshops, and professional literature as required. Develops and conducts staff trainings. Required to be on call 24/7 and respond to emergency situations. May be required to restrain out‑of‑control juveniles. Minimum Requirements EDUCATION: See Special Requirements. EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Must have three years of experience as a Certified Psychologist/Psychological Associate or Licensed Psychological Practitioner or its equivalent as determined by the Kentucky Board of Examiners of Psychology. Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: NONE SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.) Must be certified or be permitted to practice psychology on a temporary basis by the Kentucky Board of Examiners of Psychology as a Certified Psychologist, Psychological Associate or Licensed Psychological Practitioners. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is typically performed in an institutional setting. Working in proximity to some inmates creates occasional physical risks.

PROBATIONARY PERIOD
