Medical Librarian

Location: Bronx, NY 10451
Duration: 8 Weeks
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Pay Rate: $32.00/hour

We are seeking an experienced Medical Librarian to oversee the administration, supervision, and day-to-day operations of a medical library within a healthcare environment.

The Medical Librarian will provide leadership in managing library services, collections, electronic information resources, research support, and educational services for physicians, residents, fellows, medical staff, students, and other authorized users.

This position plays an important role in supporting patient care, medical education, graduate medical education (GME), clinical research, scholarly activities, and organizational needs . The successful candidate will exercise independent judgment while working collaboratively with medical education leadership, clinical departments, medical staff, researchers, and other stakeholders.

• Oversee the day-to-day administration and operation of the medical library.
• Provide professional leadership for library services and information resources.
• Support physicians, residents, fellows, medical staff, students, researchers, and other authorized users with information and research needs.
• Provide reference, research, and information-retrieval services.
• Assist users in locating and evaluating reliable medical and healthcare information.
• Manage and maintain print and electronic library collections.
• Support collection development and evaluate resources based on organizational and user needs.
• Manage electronic databases, digital resources, and library information systems.
• Provide research support for clinical, academic, and scholarly activities.
• Support evidence-based information needs and medical literature searches.
• Assist with educational activities and information services supporting medical education and GME programs.
• Collaborate with clinical departments, medical education teams, research personnel, and other organizational stakeholders.
• Monitor emerging trends and technologies in medical librarianship and information services.
• Ensure library resources remain current, accessible, and aligned with organizational requirements.
• Exercise independent judgment in resolving library and information-resource issues.
• Support projects and initiatives related to research, scholarly communication, and electronic information resources.

• Master's degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS), Library Science, Information Science , or a closely related field from an accredited institution.

• Minimum 3 years of progressively responsible professional library experience .

• Experience working in an academic medical center or teaching hospital.
• Experience within a healthcare organization.
• Familiarity with medical literature databases and evidence-based information resources.
• Knowledge of current trends in medical librarianship.
• Knowledge of scholarly communication and research support.
• Experience managing electronic information resources and digital library collections.

• Professional librarian certification or state licensure, if required by applicable law, organizational policy, or position classification.
• Additional certification in medical librarianship, information science, or a related professional discipline is preferred.
