Special Requirements

Veterans may qualify for a CalVet Veterans Hiring Preference. Military service must be included in the Employment History section of the Employment Applications (STD. 678). Statement of Qualification

A Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) is required. Please note that resumes, cover letters, and/or any other documents do not take the place of the SOQ. Applicants who fail to submit a complete SOQ as instructed and/or fail to submit all of the required documents may be eliminated from the selection process.

The SOQ serves as documentation of your ability to present information clearly and concisely in writing. In your SOQ, describe your experience, knowledge, and competencies as they relate to each of the items listed below. The items must be addressed and numbered in the same order as listed; do not consolidate responses. The SOQ must be no more than 2 pages, typed, using 12-point Arial font on standard letter-sized paper with one (1)-inch margins.

2. Develop and implement consistency of standards in support of state veteran home program, to include development of tools and resources to promote optimal program outcomes, program effectiveness, and quality improvement.

3. Work collaboratively and efficiently communicate with the state veteran home teams of nursing, physicians, dietitians, and pharmacists to share best practices and discuss regulatory standards to ensure program compliance.

4. Provide guidance and support to a statewide team of nurses on the clinical operations for a state veteran home.
