Asset Manager — Multi-Asset Operating Portfolio

Reports to: Principal Employment type: Full-time Location: In-office - periodic travel to portfolio locations required (amounting to 5-7 days of the month)

We are a private holding company that acquires and operates businesses across multiple sectors, with a current portfolio concentrated in hospitality, tech, and consumer brands. Our model is disciplined and repeatable: we acquire established operating businesses, execute a defined value-creation plan at each, and manage every asset toward a clear hold-or-exit objective. As the portfolio grows, we are building the professional infrastructure to manage it with institutional rigor.

Position Summary

The Asset Manager is the operational quarterback for an assigned cluster of portfolio businesses. This role keeps every asset moving toward plan by staying in close contact with General Managers, coordinating the support functions around them — accounting, marketing, and operations — and turning ideas into results on the ground.

The Asset Manager is the connective tissue of the portfolio: the person who knows what is happening at each location, keeps the right people working on the right problems, generates ideas to improve performance, and makes sure those ideas are actually implemented. General Managers run their locations day to day; the Asset Manager keeps the cluster aligned, supported, and improving.

Key Responsibilities

• General Manager check-ins. Maintain a regular cadence of check-ins with each General Manager — reviewing performance, surfacing issues early, and keeping a clear, current read on every location.
• Cross-functional coordination. Serve as the hub between locations and the support functions: coordinate with accounting on reporting and financial follow-up, with marketing on campaigns and creative, and with operations on execution — routing the right work to the right people.
• Idea generation. Develop practical ideas to improve sales, margins, and operations across the cluster, drawing on performance data and what is working elsewhere in the portfolio.
• Implementation oversight. Drive initiatives through to completion at the location level — briefing General Managers, following up, and verifying that changes are actually made and holding.
• Performance monitoring. Track costs, labor, sales trends, and cash position at each asset against established benchmarks, and flag or escalate deviations promptly.
• Escalation point. Be the first point of contact for matters that exceed a General Manager's authority, resolving what can be resolved and routing the rest to the right function or to the Principal.
• Reporting. Prepare clear, timely cluster-level updates that give ownership an accurate picture of performance and progress.
• Marketing execution. Develop marketing plans for assigned assets, coordinate design and creative, and oversee implementation through location teams — accountable for both the idea and the on-the-ground result.
• Acquisition integration. Coordinate the integration of newly acquired locations, from takeover through stabilization, working with the relevant functions to bring each onto standard systems.
• Portfolio awareness. Maintain a current read on each asset's trajectory and share it with ownership to inform hold, improve, or exit decisions.

Scope Boundaries

To preserve the coordination and improvement focus of this role, the following fall outside its scope:

• Routine transactional matters — payroll documentation, routine repairs, cash handling, and standard vendor issues, which are managed through established processes and back-office functions.
• Major capital decisions — expenditures above defined thresholds, which are approved by the Principal.
• Final financial authority — benchmark targets and payment approvals rest with ownership and accounting; the Asset Manager monitors, flags, and coordinates.

Qualifications

• Experience coordinating multi-unit operations or a portfolio of businesses, ideally in hospitality, retail, or franchise operations.
• Strong organizational ability and follow-through — the discipline to keep many moving parts on track and nothing slipping.
• A generative, proactive mindset: someone who spots opportunities to improve and drives them, rather than only reporting status.
• Comfort working across functions — able to coordinate with accounting, marketing, and operators and keep everyone aligned.
• Solid financial fluency: able to read a P&L, understand prime cost and labor, and know what the numbers are telling them.
• Hands-on experience developing and implementing marketing initiatives.
• Credibility with operators, with the ability to keep teams accountable while maintaining strong relationships.
• An ownership mindset, with the ability to work toward multi-year objectives.

Compensation

• Base salary: $60,000–$70,000, commensurate with experience and portfolio scope.
• Annual performance bonus: 20–40% of base salary, tied to portfolio performance against plan.
• Long-term incentive: a 1% carried-interest allocation, paying out upon asset exits, aligning long-term reward with portfolio performance over the hold period.

This compensation structure is designed to align the Asset Manager's incentives with the long-term value of the portfolio.
