Assets Protection Specialist

Pay The starting hourly wage is $24.25 – $26.25. The maximum hourly wage can reach $41.25 depending on labor market, education, work experience, and certifications. All About Assets Protection Assets Protection (AP) teams keep guests, team members, and the brand secure. They mitigate shortage risks, prevent theft and fraud, and protect product availability. They work closely with store leaders and public safety officials. Responsibilities Use surveillance and intelligence-led tactics to keep team and guest safety while reducing shortage. Monitor guests with Target's video surveillance system and detect potential theft risks. Implement AP practices and routines to reduce and prevent shortage. Document cases accurately and effectively. Identify and resolve external theft and fraud, and conduct apprehensions as appropriate. Create an easy, inspiring, and friendly guest experience: greet guests, help them find items, resolve issues, and thank them at checkout. Support store sales by ensuring product is in stock and available, preventing and resolving theft. Respond to security incidents and submit documentation following AP policy and procedures. Promote a culture of safety and security through awareness and training. Maintain positive relationships with public safety officials and law enforcement. Participate in legal proceedings when required to represent Target’s interests. Perform any other duties as needed to support business needs. Qualifications At least 18 years old. High school diploma or equivalent. Meet any state or local licensing and legal requirements. Friendly, welcoming attitude toward guests and teammates. Ability to operate handheld scanners and communicate on multiple frequency devices. Effective communication skills. Capacity to work independently and as part of a team. Prioritization of tasks and workload management. Ability to remain focused and composed in a fast‑paced environment. Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and peak shopping times. Physical ability to climb ladders, move merchandise up to 40 pounds, and work in varied temperatures and humidity.
