Overview of Responsibilities The Deli Supervisor is instrumental in guiding customers towards healthier food choices by delivering exceptional service while overseeing one of the busiest teams in our store. Manage and merchandise the deli department to maximize productivity and profitability. Order and control inventory, ensuring product quality. Coordinate production, sales, and merchandising through ongoing planning, goal setting, effective communication, and teamwork. Inspire and lead a team committed to providing top-quality products, outstanding service, and an exceptional customer experience. Engage team members through coaching, feedback, and development discussions while contributing to the bi-annual performance review process. Participate regularly in in-store meetings. Assist in recruiting, hiring, and making promotion or transfer recommendations in partnership with the Store Manager. Exercise independent judgment to address team member concerns confidently. Document corrective actions as necessary and collaborate with business and HR partners in performance management, including coaching and counseling when needed. Ensure maximum productivity by managing schedules and staffing levels effectively. Communicate standards, expectations, policy updates, and product knowledge clearly to all team members. Manage product orders, receiving, and storage efficiently. Operate and maintain deli equipment safely. Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation guidelines; educate team members on these procedures. Track weekly sales reports to manage department inventories, ensuring customer needs are met while achieving company gross profit goals. Collaborate closely with the Store Manager, Assistant Store Manager, and fellow Deli Supervisor to enhance overall store and department success through outstanding customer service and a shared passion for food. Act as a Key Carrier and/or Manager on Duty as needed. Qualifications At least 18 years of age with a minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience and 2 years of deli department experience; or an acceptable combination of experience. Ability to work a flexible schedule, adjusting as business needs dictate, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Familiarity with personnel and margin reports, weekly sales metrics, and financial goals. Exhibit outgoing and friendly behavior, maintaining a positive attitude towards both team members and customers. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with a demonstrated ability to take and give direction in a team environment. A keen focus on detail, along with analytical and problem-solving capabilities. Excellent organizational and planning skills, including the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks. Maintain Food Safety certification, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and company regulations for product freshness, food safety, and sanitation. Ability to lift and carry up to 70 lbs for distances up to 20 feet without mechanical assistance for a maximum of 4 hours. Ability to stand for continuous 4-hour segments throughout an 8-hour shift. Ability to operate deli equipment, including slicers and cooking equipment, ensuring all equipment is safe and functional. Be prepared to perform other related duties as assigned.
