Deli Lead

Job Overview Meijer is opening a new store in Fishers, IN. As a Deli Lead you will blend leadership development with day‑to‑day operational impact. You will guide your department by supporting teammates, reinforcing standards, and delivering great customer experiences. Responsibilities Provides direction related to operations, processes, and conditions of the department. Plans, guides, and empowers team members in day‑to‑day operations. Sets an example by modeling exceptional customer experience. Helps achieve department goals and influences peers to create a winning strategy. Engages peers to provide the best possible shopping experience, including an exceptional checkout experience. Communicates with team members and assigns daily work tasks. Mentors and coaches team members to exceed customer service and sales goals and to maintain the area to Meijer standards. Supports training of new team members or cross‑training high‑potential talent, providing peer coaching on job responsibilities. Works with leadership on department schedule writing to focus on team engagement, customer service, sales, and profitability. Ensures freshness of products by monitoring rotation and dating policies. Guides the team to comply with food safety standards and regulations, and works safely in alignment with 200% accountability. Leads team members to ensure ordering, receiving, stocking, pricing, and product display are completed, where applicable. Actively creates an environment that supports Meijer culture, including valuing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Operates a register and handles cash when needed. Operates powered equipment where applicable. Participates in period–end inventories where applicable. May be required to act in Lead capacity in other departments throughout the store. Ensures other duties as assigned or required. Qualifications Passion for customer service with total engagement that conveys approachability. Initiates interactions with customers and peers. Excellent verbal and written communication. Retail or other customer service experience preferred. Creative thinking skills. Ability to influence others. Ability to quickly build rapport and gain customer confidence to create repeat business. Physical ability to lift, carry, push, pull, bend, and twist while handling product.
