Key Responsibilities Clinical & Medical Oversight Attending Veterinarian: Act as the "Attending Veterinarian" for the program and participate in all IACUC meetings. Patient Care: Examine patients for medical necessities, review diagnostic testing, and communicate abnormalities to rescues. Medical Authority: Provide all medical decisions for patients and perform medical procedures within the program. Compliance & DEA: Maintain the DEA license and controlled substance logs, monitoring supply levels and expiration dates. Regulatory Standards: Ensure all medical records are complete and in full compliance with AVMA and USDA standards. Instructional Excellence Classroom & Lab: Prepare and deliver lectures, practical demonstrations, and daily lesson plans. Competency Tracking: Monitor lab competencies and confirm student skill levels on checklists. Student Success: Maintain an 80% student success rate for all classes and implement plans to encourage program retention. Administration: Maintain student grades and prepare final evaluations at the end of each sequence. Licensure: Must be a Licensed Veterinarian in Texas and hold all current designations required by law to work in the field. Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a DVM in a clinic, hospital, or shelter environment. Technical Skills: Basic computer skills, including word processing and spreadsheet documents.
