Maintenance Specialist I

The Department of Administrative Services State Building Division is currently seeking a Maintenance Specialist to join their team and the Beatrice State Development Center. Job Duties Maintain the facility with repairs and preventive maintenance. Perform carpentry work, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, groundskeeping, and other skilled trades work. Schedule and perform specialized preventive maintenance and repairs for equipment, systems, and machinery to ensure necessary inspection, adjustment, and replacement of parts. Maintain accurate inventory of all stock and commonly used maintenance parts. Complete duties as assigned with or without supervision. Perform any other duties assigned within the scope of the classification. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Associate’s degree or equivalent vocational education in construction, industrial engineering, HVAC, welding, or other building trade. Experience in building maintenance, a mechanical trade, or performing safety inspections, investigations or training may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis as determined appropriate by the agency. Preferred Qualifications: Certification/Completion Diploma in one or more applicable maintenance trade(s). Licensed in one or more applicable maintenance fields. Special license for EPA applications or refrigerant. Work Hours Monday‑Friday 7:00am‑3:30pm, including rotating on‑call work. This position requires driving; the incumbent must provide a valid driver’s license. Regular and reliable attendance is required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Use of hand tools, power tools and building maintenance equipment. Basic office and computer skills, including competency in the use of email and building system applications. Operation and preservation of maintenance tools and equipment. Use of basic grounds‑keeping equipment.
