Business Consultant

Position Summary A Business Consultant at the Small Business Development Center will provide counseling and deliver programs to businesses, communities, organizations, and other public agencies in an assigned geographic territory. The role requires broad business knowledge, research and analytical skills, creative thinking, and the ability to manage multiple projects and clients simultaneously. The consultant will develop expertise in business development, create training programs, consulting tools, and research projects that respond to the specific community needs. Multi‑county travel may be required. Job Duties Provide business counseling and programs to private‑sector businesses. Collaborate with businesses to serve as local leaders and instructors. Develop relevant business development expertise and apply knowledge through new training programs, consulting tools, and research projects. Maintain proficiency in financial analysis, business research, marketing, accounting, and use of MS Office. Present publicly at workshops, Chamber of Commerce events, and meetings with bankers, government officials, and resource providers. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in business or combination of education and relevant experience. Good working knowledge of basic business tools: financial analysis, business research, marketing, and accounting. Proficiency with computers and MS Office. Strong research and analytical skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and clients simultaneously. Comfortable speaking publicly and representing the SBDC at various events.
