Communications-Content Producer 1 (Writing Focus) Tacoma, WA, USA Job Summary This role is responsible for creating written content for the Communications Department, with the ability to produce digital or multimedia content as needed. The position supports the Puyallup Tribe of Indians to communicate tribal messages and culture. Responsibilities Develop written articles, photo and video ideas, and contribute to the editorial calendar. Create various written content for the Communications Department’s channels, including news articles, website copy, social media copy, press releases, newsletters, and employee email announcements. Assist with digital media tasks such as building newsletters, posting to the tribe’s website and social media platforms, and creating multimedia assets. Research, respond to internal and external information requests, schedule events, and support media relations and crisis communications. Plan and manage complex content projects, coordinate with contractors, negotiate responsibilities, and lead multi‑employee projects when required. Supervisory Responsibilities None; may act as project team lead. Essential Duties and Qualifications Education and Experience Level I: HS Diploma/GED required. Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or related field preferred. Level II: All Level I requirements plus at least two years of content production experience. Employees may transition to Level II after two years. Skills Intermediate to extensive word‑processing skills. Proficiency in digital content tools, cameras, and social media platforms. Working knowledge of Associated Press style. Strong writing skills, grammar, and editing for web and social media. Experience with photography, video, and audio/visual live streaming preferred. Understanding of local tribal culture, sensitivity to elders, youth, and neighboring tribes. Excellent organizational, prioritization, and multi‑tasking abilities. Ability to handle confidential information and unpredictable schedules. Basic math ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide; compute rates and percentages. Strong oral and written communication skills. Salary and Benefits Salary: Based on salary matrix plus benefits. Salaries are market competitive.
