Department : ClinicEnterprise Salary : 16.63-18.73 (Commensurate withExperience/Education) Description : The UH Health Family Care Center is a Federally Qualified HealthCenter (FQHC) Look-Alike, committed to delivering comprehensive,integrated health services to underserved populations in Houston.The center serves residents of the Greater Third Ward, East End,South Houston, and surrounding neighborhoods, while welcomingpatients from across the region. Family Care Center integratesprimary care, behavioral health (including psychology andpsychiatry), women’s health, pediatrics, and chronic diseasemanagement. The clinic partners with community organizations andpublic agencies to expand access, reduce health disparities, andsupport wellness in historically underserved areas. UH HealthFamily Care Center is positioned to scale its impact and serve as avital anchor for community health in Houston. Responsible for front desk operations: Patient scheduling & registration, insurance/eligibility verifications, reminder calls, check in/out, collection of payments, and coverage of phone/fax lines.

1. Serve as first point of contact for patients, visitors, staff,students and faculty.
2. Answers questions and resolves moderate customer serviceconcerns and refers more difficult issues to manager; adheres todepartment guidelines on referring patients/visitors to theappropriate area.
3. Provides excellent customer and patient services support bysetting appointments and providing phone coverage.
4. Answers telephone and directs calls to the appropriate staff andrelays pertinent information.
5. Communicates with customers in a courteous, professional,cooperative and mature manner.
6. Retrieves and files medical records, enters/updates patientinformation, and ensures patient's documents are scanned into theelectronic systems.
7. Identifies payer source, verifies insurance eligibility,financial status and assigns correct pay type.
8. Assists patients with check-in process; checks out patientsusing electronic medical records system including inputting data,posting charges/payments, and searching and retrieving data.
9. Faxes, copies and distributes medical record information fordoctors and patients.
10. Ensures confidentiality of all medical records and patientinformation.
11. Works as part of a team with all clinic staff includingmanagement, nursing, and medical personnel.
12. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

MQ: Requires a basic knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuationand simple mathematical functions like percentages, ratios, etc. asmight normally be acquired through attainment of a high schooldiploma or GED. Requires a minimum of three (3) years of directlyjob-related experience. Additional Posting Information: - Department is willing to accept education in lieu ofexperience.
