Job Description The Specialist II has advanced knowledge within a designated Information Technology (IT) area of responsibility that is applied to broad and diverse assignments and associated requirements. This role plans and coordinates activities related to the design, development, implementation and integration of IT solutions. The Specialist II analyzes, evaluates, and recommends innovative solutions. The Specialist II applies proven communication, analytical, and problem‑solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues in order to maximize the benefit of IT systems. Individuals in this position typically provide expertise and planning to a number of clients by overseeing, coordinating, and implementing medium to complex IT projects. This position may lead and guide other IT staff. Responsibilities Provide project leadership to ensure that project deliverables and schedules are met by technical resources; manage escalation to the appropriate IT resource management when needed; provide feedback to the technical resource manager on the performance of technical staff Translate customer and business requirements into practical and affordable solutions; minimize customizations Monitor and communicate the financial aspects of each project, such as review billing charges, mitigate budget, and actual variances Facilitate evaluation and vendor selection of business solutions using established selection methodology when applicable Participate with cross‑functional team members in issue identification, process impacts, and solution development discussions to optimize end‑to‑end solutions Leverage outside vendors, contractors, technical teams, and other departments to drive for results Work in a fast‑moving, dynamic environment with an emphasis on security, accountability, and compliance Maintain excellent customer service and communication skills Be a proactive self‑starter who can work remotely with minimal help or supervision Basic Job Requirements Accredited four‑year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and six (6) years of work‑related experience, or a combination of education and directly related experience equal to ten (10) years if non‑degreed; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors Job‑related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines Ability to attend to detail and work in a time‑conscious and time‑effective manner Other Job Requirements Must be able to provide proof of U.S. citizenship Periodic domestic travel (up to 25%) Day‑to‑day primary residence in U.S. Eastern Time Zone Working fluency in written and spoken English language Technical Skills Installation/configuration of SQL Server 2017, 2019, 2022, and/or 2025 Backup and restore strategies SQL Agent jobs Policy management Security SQL Server Integration Services administration and troubleshooting Linked servers/remote connectivity Replication Mirroring Always‑On Availability Locking/blocking Index tuning Preferred Qualifications Accredited degree or global equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline May require Certified Network Engineer (CNE or CNE/NT) or Certified Network Administrator (CNA) credentials or other applicable certifications Six years related experience in technical services for hardware/software engineering and/or production support of IT services May require proficiency with Windows, Unix, or similar technologies, with experience in installation and administration of one or more operating systems Strong team‑oriented interpersonal skills Effectively utilizes business principles, processes, and technology Effectively adapts to rapidly changing technology and applies it to business needs Strong analytical and conceptual skills Demonstrated strong technical and non‑technical communication and presentation skills in both oral and written formats Additional preferences: Oracle database administration Azure SQL Server administration SQL Server Reporting Services authoring and/or administration Transact‑SQL programming PowerShell automation VMWare vSphere administration Active Directory administration Equal Employment Opportunity Statement We are an equal opportunity employer. Compensation Salary Range: $103,500.00 – $191,500.00. The market rate for the role is typically at the mid‑point of the salary range; however, variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
