Data Center Fiber Technician I

Responsibilities:

• Install and route single-mode and multimode fiber optic cabling
• Assist with fiber terminations and fusion splicing
• Pull, dress, secure, and label fiber optic cables
• Install patch panels, fiber enclosures, cassettes, and cable management systems
• Perform basic fiber testing using optical power meters, visual fault locators (VFL), and continuity testers
• Assist senior technicians with OTDR testing and troubleshooting
• Read and interpret basic construction drawings and cable schedules
• Maintain proper bend radius and cable routing standards
• Complete labeling and documentation in accordance with project requirements
• Follow all customer, BICSI, OSHA, and site safety procedures
• Maintain a clean and organized work area
• Assist with inventory management and material staging

Qualifications:

• BICSI Installer 1 (INST1) certification
• 1-3 years of structured cabling or fiber optic installation experience
• Basic knowledge of fiber optic installation practices
• Ability to identify fiber color codes
• Experience using hand tools and basic fiber installation equipment
• Ability to read basic blueprints and cable schedules
• Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
