Lab Technician (Night Shift)

Overview Lab Technician 1 (Day Shift) Join Tillamook as a Lab Technician performing microbial and chemical analysis of milk, raw cream, condensed skim and ice cream, with additional testing of milk components, sensory evaluation, antibiotics, added water, sediments and drinking water. Data entry into NAV database and occasional correspondence via email are required. Responsibilities Perform microbial and chemical analysis using wet chemistry or rapid analysis equipment based on the daily schedule (milk or ice cream). Conduct sensory evaluation, antibiotics, added water, or sediment testing as needed. Assist with descriptive sensory analysis and statistical analysis; prepare technical briefs. Enter information into the NAV database as required. Perform other duties as assigned with a focus on maintaining quality and compliance. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, and the public; communicate effectively; work well with staff at all levels. Demonstrate computer literacy with intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; SharePoint is a plus. Experience with specialized databases or ERP systems (e.g., NAV/Navision) is preferred. Work under pressure, meet deadlines, and handle multiple projects simultaneously; prioritize tasks and manage time independently. Prioritize workload and demonstrate strong time-management skills with minimal supervision. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Bachelor’s degree in dairy science or a related field 1+ year of experience in dairy sensory or a working laboratory is preferred Ability to work some weekends and holidays Physical requirements Sitting Standing and/or walking Lifting up to 35 lbs Vision for machine or computer operations Hearing Ability to climb stairs Salary Information This is an hourly position with a starting wage of $22.81. Working conditions Laboratory: Shared workstations with testing equipment and computer terminals. Generally quiet, temperature controlled, well lighted. May involve walking on uneven, slippery surfaces and forklift traffic. Requires standing most of the shift, working with chemicals, walking on uneven surfaces, stooping, bending, crouching, climbing stairs and ladders. Duties may include repetitive hand motions and lifting up to 35 pounds. Distribution of time: Standing 50%, Sitting 25%, Walking 10%, Lifting 10%, Climbing 5%.
