All Other Positions - Pecos Cyber Academy Job Description: Job Title: FamilyLiaison Location: Remote Reports To: Building Principal Job Summary: Parent Liaison is responsible for fostering a supportive and inclusive school environment by acting as a bridge between families and the school. This role involves providing family support, facilitating communication, and promoting social-emotional learning (SEL) for students. The ideal candidate will be compassionate, culturally responsive, and dedicated to enhancing the overall well-being of students and their families. Works collaboratively with Home room teachers and other staff members. Key Responsibilities: Family Support Develop and maintain positive relationships with families, offering a welcoming and accessible point of contact within the school. Serve as a first point of contact for families having difficulty navigating the learning platform of the school Assist families in navigating school systems and accessing resources, including academic support, counseling services, and community resources. Conduct home visits in the Zoom or/and Google Platform as needed to understand and address family concerns and provide personalized support. Organize and facilitate workshops, meetings, and events aimed at engaging families and enhancing their involvement in their child's education. Support with poor attendance Communication Serve as a liaison between families and school staff, ensuring effective and timely communication regarding student progress, school policies, and upcoming events. Translate and interpret school communications for non-English speaking families to ensure inclusivity and understanding. Maintain confidentiality and respect for family privacy in all communications and interactions. Create a building level monthly newsletter Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Collaborate with teachers and counselors to implement SEL programs and activities within the school. Provide one‑on‑one and group support to students to help them develop essential social‑emotional skills, such as self‑awareness, empathy, and conflict resolution. Monitor and assess the social‑emotional well‑being of students, identifying those in need of additional support or intervention. Organize and facilitate SEL workshops and training sessions for families to reinforce SEL practices at home. Collaboration and Advocacy Work closely with school staff, including teachers, counselors, and administrators, to support the holistic development of students. Advocate for the needs and concerns of families within the school community, ensuring they are heard and addressed. Participate in school and district meetings, committees, and professional development opportunities to stay informed and contribute to the continuous improvement of family support and SEL initiatives. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field (required); Master’s degree (preferred). Certified New Mexico Teacher Experience working in a school setting, particularly in a family support or counseling role. Strong understanding of social‑emotional learning principles and practices. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with diverse families and students. Bilingual or multilingual abilities (preferred). Knowledge of community resources and the ability to connect families with appropriate services within the families’ community. Compassionate, patient, and culturally responsive approach to working with families and students. Strong organizational and problem‑solving skills. Working Conditions Full‑time virtual position, primarily during school hours with some evening and weekend commitments as required. Collaborative and dynamic school environment with a focus on student and family well‑being. Salary is based on PCA and NMPED approved Teacher Salary Schedule Other duties as assigned.
