Reporting to the VP, the Director of Technical Accounting, External Reporting & Policies is a critical leadership role for someone who has been through the scaling journey in software — someone who's operated at a company that grew past $1B+ in revenue and understands firsthand what that inflection point demands from technical accounting and external reporting functions. We are seeking a "business partner" who happens to have deep technical accounting expertise. If you're the person people go to because you find a way to get to "yes" while still protecting the integrity of the numbers, we want to talk to you. Responsibilities Own technical accounting research, positions, and documentation for complex and emerging transactions (revenue recognition, business combinations, equity, leases, and other software-industry-specific matters) Lead internal and external reporting processes, including accurate, complete and timely financial statements and footnote disclosures Develop, maintain, and evolve accounting policies that scale with a fast-growing software business Perform stock-based compensation accounting Partner cross-functionally with Legal, FP&A, Sales, and business unit leaders — translating technical accounting requirements into practical, business-friendly guidance Anticipate accounting implications of new products, deal structures, and business models before they become a problem Drive process improvements and changes to reporting infrastructure as the company scales Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors on technical matters Qualifications CPA license is required Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or business related field AI experience Direct experience designing, building, and deploying AI agents (e.g., agentic workflows, autonomous or semi-autonomous task execution, tool-calling/orchestration frameworks such as LangChain, AutoGen, CrewAI, Claude Agent SDK, or comparable) Current, active use of AI agents in your day-to-day workflow — not a one-time project or coursework The ability to speak in specific detail about architecture decisions, tooling choices, failure modes encountered, and how they evaluated agent performance Big 4 foundation: Minimum Manager-level experience at a Big 4 public accounting firm Industry depth: 4-5+ years of software industry experience beyond public accounting Scaling experience: Direct experience with a software company's growth journey through $1B+ in revenue Leadership presence: You can drive change management and influence stakeholders Communication: You can translate technical accounting concepts into plain language for non-accountants Experience navigating an IPO or high-growth pre/post-IPO environment #J-18808-Ljbffr StevenDouglas
