The Fountain Group is currently seeking a Chemist I for a prominent client of ours. This position is located in Clark, NJ. Details for the position are as follows:
Job Title: Cosmetic Characterization Lab TechnicianLocation: Onsite (5 Days/Week)
Pay Rate: $25.74/hr
Duration: 6 Months Job Description
- Perform physicochemical characterization of haircare and cosmetic products following established laboratory protocols.
- Conduct pH, viscosity, rheology, microscopy, foam behavior, and appearance evaluations.
- Execute stability studies including temperature cycling, centrifugation, freeze-thaw, and long-term stability monitoring.
- Maintain sample traceability, stability records, laboratory databases, and characterization documentation.
- Support workflow improvements related to testing processes, data management, and laboratory instrumentation.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, Food Science, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related scientific field with 2+ years of laboratory experience; or
- QC/Physical Measurements certification or diploma with relevant laboratory experience.
- Hands-on experience in cosmetic characterization, personal care, food science, or chemical product evaluation.
- Physicochemical testing of cosmetic or consumer products.
- pH meter calibration and measurement.
- Rheometer/viscometer operation for viscosity and flow characterization.
- Microscopy for droplet size, emulsion structure, and particle distribution analysis.
- Stability testing including temperature cycling, centrifugation, freeze-thaw, and long-term studies.
- Evaluation of appearance, texture, gloss, phase separation, and viscosity.
- Laboratory documentation, SOP adherence, and data traceability.
- Microsoft Excel for laboratory data analysis, stability logs, and charts.
- Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and Windows operating system.
- Experience with haircare product characterization.
- Background in pharmaceutical quality or physical measurements laboratories.
- Experience maintaining laboratory databases and stability tracking systems.
- Knowledge of Design of Experiments (DoE) data organization and reporting.
- Experience optimizing laboratory testing workflows and instrument utilization
