Key Responsibilities

• Obtain and record initial patient assessments, establishing care priorities based on age, symptoms, and psychosocial needs; reassess patients systematically to identify trends requiring intervention.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized, measurable plans of care consistent with Nursing Standards of Care, modifying plans based on patient outcomes and clinical evaluations.
• Perform Point of Care testing procedures and implement timely, documented interventions appropriate to patient needs.
• Delegate unit work assignments appropriately, coordinate team assignments based on patient and unit needs, and follow up on delegated tasks for quality and completeness.
• Participate in patient and family health education and discharge planning.
• Promote a positive, professional work environment by collaborating with staff, physicians, and visitors to achieve unit and organizational goals.

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing program.
• Current New Mexico RN license or current Compact state RN license.
• BLS Certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
• ACLS Certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
• PALS Certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) Certification.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• CPI certification or equivalent de-escalation training.
• Minimum of 1 year of Emergency Room nursing experience.
• Current knowledge and skills appropriate to the age and type of patient population served in an emergency department setting.
